Things We Love: Orchids
October 27th, 2010 § 17 Comments
Orchids. Is there anything more beautiful? They’re so delicate and lovely and just look so — well — expensive. In a traditional urn in the entrance hall, clear glass in the family room or — our favorite from this post — in a clam shell on the kitchen table (fabulous juxtaposition!) this simple, striking flower can become a focal point in any room. Now, sigh, if we could only keep them alive… These beautiful photos have inspired me to try just one more time. If Donna Karan can manage it with her schedule, surely I can too!

I adore orchids of all kinds. Is there any flower that makes more of an elegant statement!?

I love love love orchids… they are so elegant and graceful… Mine lasted about 4 months and now I need another!
I love them too. Alas, I’ve had to resort to faux but they still look great.
Beautiful post! Orchids are the most beautiful plant and flower. These images are so refreshing.
Have a nice day, and thank you for you sweet comment.

I just stumbled across your blog for the first time and thought I would say hello! I looked through a few of your posts and love your style. It is so interesting to have two people write one blog together, and especially interesting to be mother and daughter!
I’m a blogger as well, about the world of art, but my history is in interior design and fashion. I love to hear what people are saying! Hope we get to see more of each other in the future.

You can’t beat orchids for lasting beauty!
I agree, orchids are one of my favorites as well!
I was trying to find a way to email you–are you from Louisiana?? ‘Mais Pas Cher’ tells me you have an understanding of the cajun lexicon!
Love your blog, too! So glad you stopped by mine! I hope you win the painting!

Orchids are my absolute favourite flower (with peonies running closely behind:)- I had them everywhere in my wedding and always try to have one in my home. I find them pretty easy to keep alive but have never been able to get them back once they go dorment- hence, I have about 10 stems in my garage looking very sad. I adore the bathroom pictures from your post- gorgeous.
Ps- new to your blog- lovin it!
So love orchids… especially the ones that don’t need a lot of care! The ones Cindy Rinfret did were ours (faux, or course!)
The great thing about Orchids is that they look great anywhere.
I love, love, love orchids as well. I recently had one bloom after waiting over a year! Thank-you kindly for visiting my blog! I’m so very glad you enjoyed my pillow!!!
