Things We Love: Lanterns

Whether they’re hanging on a wall, sitting on a table or marking a path, lanterns are not only a great source of light but also a perfect way to add style to any space, indoor or out.
We love this fabulous chocolate and white room in the DC Design House — thanks to My Notting Hill for the photo — for so, so many reasons, and the wall lantern is such a unique way to add an artistic flair. This similar Outdoor Wall Pocket Lantern is a steal on Amazon.
Sometimes coffee table decor can be bland and boring. This room, featured in Southern Accents, is far from bland, due in large part to the eye-catching lanterns, similar to these Matte Black Lanterns.
The non-traditional, built-in beds below are perhaps one of the coolest uses of a small space we’ve seen. Even though there isn’t much room for decoration in this spot in the Haslan House, featured in Traditional Home, the wall lanterns really define the space.
This fabulous room featured in Coastal Living is the perfect indoor-outdoor space. The lanterns on the wall, similar to theĀ Regency Lantern from Gumps San Franciso, are a great source of light in this room.
Lanterns on a mantle, like the ones in this room designed by Campion Platt and photographed for Architectural Digest, create a relaxed, nautical feel in any seaside retreat. Light your mantle with these Silver Mantle Lanterns.
This idyllic outdoor setting is given a romantic glow from the flames of these beautiful lanterns. Designer Michael Schiable who designed this space, featured in Architectural Digest, used real candles, but you can get a similar effect from these Everlasting Glow Lanterns.
