May 28th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Brighten up your bathroom, living room or any space where you want to display your treasures or stash your stuff with this Triple Mirror Shelf. The bamboo design and gold finish combine nicely to create just the right combination of dressy and casual. For $135.00 on Amazon, this shelf is versatile and cost effective. We love it hanging on the wall or sitting on the floor, and the flora and fauna print of the mirror makes it easier to maintain — less visible dust!
Things We Love: Hammocks

There is nothing more comforting or relaxing than spending a lazy day daydreaming in a hammock. Whether you’re by the pool, beside the ocean or simply in your own back yard, a late afternoon nap in a hammock is nothing less than restorative.
What’s even better is that, on top of being a mini-vacation, these hammocks are fantastic looking and can serve as a crucial design element in any outdoor space. This pool area, designed by Alberto Burckhardt and photographed for Veranda, gets a punch of color from a bright orange hammock, similar to the Texsport La Paz Hammock.
This vibrant lounger provides another seating area in an outdoor space and costs way less than another rattan chair. In fact, the Texsport La Paz will set you back less than 20 bucks at Amazon.
There’s nowhere that calls for a hammock more than a beach house porch, like this one, from the Coastal Living idea house. We love how the designers stuck with a traditional rope hammock, adding excitement with nautically inspired, red and white pillows. The classic Original Pawley’s Island Hammock Presidential is hard to beat if you’re looking for that basic, hold-up-in-any-weather hammock.
We might not all be able to have our own pier with a hammock over the ocean, but we can all have our own hammock that’s the colors of the sea — and for a steal! We found the fabulous blue and white stripe hammock, similar to the one above photographed by Colleen Duffley for Coastal Living.
This blue and white stripe hammock and accompanying pillow will cost you only $22.94.
Designer Linda Garland picked a sophisticated hammock with fabulous, crocheted fringe for this porch overlooking a lake, featured in Architectural Digest. When you want to go with a classic, natural color hammock, but need a little more formality something similar to Garland’s hammock, the Deluxe Mayan Hammock, offers a similar fringe.

Tabletop Tuesday

Nothing says summertime like a festive dinner with friends on the patio. But what fun is entertaining if your table looks drab and boring? This Kate Spade Sag Harbor China from Lenox, screams party and will take any tablescape from mundane to marvelous.
We love this layered look that combines stripes and polka-dots to help you set a table that is miles from ordinary.
Check out other great pieces in this line at Lenox.
Things We Love: Natural Fiber Furniture

Nothing brings the feel of the islands to wherever it is you live like the casual chic of natural fiber furniture. This home designed by Dick Fallin, featured in Architectural Digest, actually is in the islands and features rattan lounge chairs with comfy-looking cushions. You can bring the look to your living room with this Donut Rattan Lounge Chair. Now, if only Amazon sold that view.
This Architectural Digest room, designed by Scott Snyder, is an example of how natural fibers (and a pineapple here and there!) can lend a casual feel to your other furniture. The one rattan chair Snyder uses, similar to the Padmas Plantation Polo Occasional Chair, gives a beachy feeling to this room.
In fact, we actually like the chunky fibers and delicate legs in this round-back chair better than the one in the room! This occasional chair would look great anywhere.
- This beautiful room by Robert Trachtenberg, photographed for House Beautiful, uses a natural fiber backdrop to create a neutral, serene palate and adds a punch of interest with the red pillows. While the accessories are really what define this room, it couldn’t come together without the oversized rattan chairs. These similar Cabana Banana Chairs are a super budget-friendly way to get this look for less.
Designer Phoebe Howard incorporated this rattan coffee table into her room so that everyone in the room has a place to set their feet — and their cocktail. Whether your house is closer to the seashore or the sidewalk, this similar Hospitality Rattan Seagrass Coffee Table, will make your room just as stylish. And if you want to lose the glass top, that’s entirely up to you.

There’s nothing better than a beautifully finished room — especially when that final touch was an absolute steal. We love, love, love this beautiful Chelsea House Clover Mirrored Tray Table, but weren’t sure we loved it enough to commit to its $550.00 price tag.
The good news? You don’t have to sacrifice style or blow your budget. Check out this incredibly similar Country Living Antique White Tray Table from…. K-MART!! Seriously. This tray table can be yours for the bargain price of $69.99. (It’s on sale.) Better yet, if you decide you’re over the mirrored look in a couple of years (or a couple of months) no biggie. You can afford to upgrade.
